Day of Excellence Announces 2012 Speaker Line-up

Day of Excellence, Inc. (DOE) is pleased to announce the speaker line-up for its third annual event. The 2012 ‘Day’ will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Theatre.

The 2012 speaker line-up includes Tim Gard, a Denver, CO resident better known as the man with Comic Vision. Tim dedicates himself to using humor as a way to look at life a little differently and will begin the day with his talk, “Develop a Comic Vision.” Gard will be followed by Elaine Doll-Dunn, a local educator, marathon runner organizer, and motivational speaker presenting her message “Life is a Marathon… so Double Tie Your Shoes.” The afternoon session will bring Steve Gilliland with “Enjoy the Ride,” outlining a roadmap for success. The closing speaker, Tim Sanders, former Chief Solutions Officer at Yahoo!, will emphasize that one person, regardless of role or rank can change the world in his keynote, “The Power of One Person.”

“We are thrilled to be in the final preparation stages for the third annual Day of Excellence and to offer four energetic and informative speakers to Day of Excellence attendees again this year! We are confident this line up will leave attendees refreshed, enthused and anxious to strive for a greater level of success in both their personal and professional lives,” said Michael Oster, President of DOE, Inc.

Junior LRC Program Donation

Day of Excellence, Inc., created by the Leadership Rapid City (LRC) Class of 2009, recently made a donation to the Junior LRC program. The funds supported the Etiquette Dinner session held in January for the Junior LRC Class of 2012. Pictured are Dean Aurand (left), Junior LRC chair, accepting the donation from Ericka Heiser (right), Vice-President of Day of Excellence, Inc. “The mission of the Junior LRC program is very similar to Day of Excellence, to foster leadership and excellence. We are thrilled to be able to support the Junior LRC program, our future leaders,” said Heiser.

The Day of Excellence Foundation has donated more than $90,000 to local organizations since its inception in 2009, according to officials. Organizers are very excited to be able to ‘give back’ to the community through these contributions. The generosity and commitment from individuals attending the 2nd Annual Day of Excellence, along with the compassionate support of local businesses have made the Day of Excellence charitable giving program possible. Day of Excellence Announces Second Annual Tree Planting at Central States Fair

Day of Excellence, Inc., (DOE) is pleased to announce it will continue giving back to the community with a second annual contribution to the Central States Fair. Beginning at 9:30am on Saturday, October 22, members of DOE will assist with planting trees at the Pennington County Fairgrounds. The trees were purchased with a contribution from the 2011 Day of Excellence event and donations from other community sponsors of the Central States Fair. The addition of trees to the Fairgrounds is part of the Central States Fair beautification program.

“We are proud to contribute once again to the beautification program at the Central States Fair. DOE intends to plant trees every year to help make Rapid City green. The trees we plant will be a legacy for people to enjoy for generations to come,” said Board Member Jerry Schmidt, coordinator of the DOE tree giving program.

Day of Excellence, Inc. hosts an annual event providing personal and professional development training to individuals in the Black Hills area and has contributed its proceeds of over $90,000 to non-profit organizations in the community, including their most recent donation of $2,500 to the Fallen Officers Memorial Fund. Members of DOE are planning the third annual Day of Excellence to be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012.

Day of Excellence Contributes to Fallen Officers

Day of Excellence, Inc. (DOE), formerly Leadership Rapid City Class of 2009, recently presented a check in the amount of $2,500 to Rapid City Police Department Chief Steve Allender and Captain Karl Jegris for the Fallen Officers Memorial Fund.

The fund is earmarked for the families of Officers J. Ryan McCandless and Nick Armstrong, who lost their lives in the Aug. 2 shooting, and Officer Tim Doyle, who was wounded in the shooting but is back on duty.

Day of Excellence, Inc. (D.O.E.) is pleased to announce the speaker line-up for the second annual event. The 2011 ‘Day’ will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Theatre.

The 2011 speaker line-up includes Donna Hanks, local consultant and Western Dakota Tech instructor, presenting her message “Got Energy!” Terry Fleck, a North Dakota native better known as the Attitude Doctor, will build on Donna’s message in his address “Attitude Virus.” Attitudes are contagious…is yours worth catching? The afternoon session will bring Dr. Jim Wand to the stage. Dr. Wand will demonstrate how to unleash the power of inner mind in “A Journey Beyond Imagination.” The closing speaker, Dan Clark, primary contributing author to Chicken Soup for the Soul, will leave you empowered with internal intensity, re-energized to dig deeper inside with revitalized strength to do whatever it takes to succeed in his address “Success to Significant.”

Organizers are very excited to be able to ‘give back’ to the community through these contributions. The generosity and commitment from individuals attending Day of Excellence, along with the compassionate support of local businesses have made the 2010 Day of Excellence charitable giving program possible.

Day of Excellence organizers have also indicated they are well on the way to providing contributions to additional nonprofit organizations. Every registration received henceforth will be appropriated directly to the charitable giving portion of the budget. The goal remains to fund an additional five charities which will be announced the day of the event.

proceeds from the inaugural event. The 2010 Day of Excellence beneficiaries are: The Cornerstone
Rescue Mission, Humane Society of the Black Hills, Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI), South
Dakota Youth Hunting Adventures, and the Rapid City Community Food Bank‐Backpack Program.
These charitable organizations will each be presented with a check for $4,000 at the conclusion of
the inaugural Day of Excellence on May 19th.
