Each year, Day of Excellence, Inc. gives back to the community by planting trees at regional locations. Trees are purchased with a portion of net proceeds from the annual Day of Excellence event.

In 2010 and 2011, trees were planted at the Pennington County Fairgrounds in Rapid City. The addition of trees to the fairgrounds is part of the Central States Fair beautification program.

“We are proud to contribute to the beautification program at the Central States Fair. DOE intends to plant trees every year to help make Rapid City green. The trees we plant will be a legacy for people to enjoy for generations to come,” said Board Member Jerry Schmidt, coordinator of the DOE tree giving program.
