James E. Dixon lost his leg and found his purpose. As an amputee, he shares his experiences from his traumatic childhood to his role as a relentless advocate and motivational speaker. Touching, inspiring, and sometimes humorous, his story reveals how he met his challenges head on and defied adversity to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Dixon’s journey started at age 11 when his leg was amputated due to poor circulation. Dixon’s encouraging mother used to tell him he was Superman, just with a bit of kryptonite. He kept quiet about his leg for 45 years, until recently when his attitude changed and he decided to wear shorts.

Fast forward to the present – Dixon’s openness to share his story of resilience and determination on his popular Instagram (321K followers @supermanis4real) and largely subscribed motivational YouTube channel Absolute Motivation– with over 128 million views -- has led to a book deal, a documentary and even a comic book feature.

“I thought about the fact that at some point, I had to get over the fear of what other people thought it said about me,” Dixon said. “I decided I would wear shorts. And that was a monumental day for me.”

From sports to spirituality, his new book Absolute Motivation – Battle Test Principles for Next-Level Living is a story of resilience and unwavering determination that reminds readers from all walks of life of their limitless potential. It is a testimony of faith that reveals the principles anyone can use to rewrite their story and take their life to the next level.

Dixon is also a passionate advocate for fitness. He got into sports shortly after the amputation to show people he was just as capable as everyone else. Prosthetic legs are made to fit the person they’re attached to, therefore; gaining 20 pounds can affect the wearer’s ability to walk. So fitness became a way of life for Dixon. As a powerlifter, his deadlift record sits at 760 pounds.
